May 17th, 2019 11:46Yeah, so I realized something about myself yesterday. While I'm not much of a romantic in real life, I'm a sucker for it in fictional settings. I actually really like romantic movies. However, heterosexual romance bores me. It's okay in settings where romance is not the plot, but if it's the focus? Yeah, with a few well executed exceptions, totally not my thing.
Therefore, I watch a shit ton of gay films. Except Hollywood sucks at homosexual romance films until very recently. I don't think I've ever seen a romantic lesbian movie where they don't die. We now have a few happy(ish), big name films with guys (Call Me By Your Name and Love, Simon come to mind), where's the ladies version? And I'm not talking about the indie stuff, but the mainstream(ish) ventures. You know, things I actually see previews for on regular TV. (Love, Simon certainly had them.) Catch up, Hollywood!
